    hi geotechers,

got IDX Pro on repair. it seems has all mods of Mr. Bill.
    1. what opamp Mr. Bill uses for preamp U1? the marking is sanded by his hand off so I see only first OPA...
    2. what opamp Mr. Bill uses for U8? he deleted LM393 and uses opamp in phase shift circuit also [OPA]..228P.

    Hi Anatoly,
The OPA627 best fits to NE5534.

    I think OPA2228 is used for U8.

                Step by step guide

                Hi everyone,

Very pleased to be on the Forum!
I own an IDX Pro and think it is wonderful machine. However I am in the UK and would really like to add the Bill. Mods additions to my machine.
I know it is a big ask, but would anyone be able to put together a step by step guide with pictures on how to do this if order? I am a very basic electrician hobbyist, so it might be a difficult project for me.

Or does anyone know someone in the UK who can do this modification?

Thanks in advance for your help.

                Rich

                    Hmmm

                    Hi kt315,

                    Thanks for the reply.

Sadly I have contacted Bill a while ago and he gave me the details of a guy called UK Bill?
However I have never had a response.

Basically is there anyone in the UK who can do this? Or am I out of luck because it can only be done in the USA By Bill at Surfscanner?
                    There must be a way?

                    Thanks

                    Rich

It also appears that Bill has shared with us his much coveted mods! They include none of these changes to ICs and added capacitors of any kind, only the chanve of r24 to a 2.2M (replacing the 470 or 1.5M from factory and the moving of VR1 and VR4 to pots moubted on the case. One more is suggested and is another resistor change, r32. It is a 220k and switching to a 375k(?) or you can install a switch, switching between the two resistors.

                          Hey Blisterd1,

Thanks for that info. I am thinking of having a go at doing this to mine.
Where did you find out the Mr Bill had shared his mods?

Also don't suppose you know of anywhere in the states to locate an IDX Pro, and people who might be willing to ship to the UK? - I fancy a back-up machine!

                          Regards,

                          Rich

                            Boost/Turbo mod...

Sorry for the delay! I got quite side-tracked. But back in the hobby and wanting to do the "boost" mod on my Classic III and my IDX-Pro. I did the SAT and GEB mods. Just need to get to that OP-amp change and what-ever else I need to do. Can anyone give me a clear list of changes and a description of what the benefit of that change would be. I don't want to go to much trouble for a mod that won't do much. I am a great soldering tech (HAM tech license for many years!) so don't hold back! ;-)
