  • Wanted : Preferably dead, relatively modern-ish detector

    G'day all,

I'm looking for a handle assembly (elbow to coil hinge) for use as a starting point for my detector build.

I have been gifted with absolutely no metal or plastic or woodworking skills whatsoever. I had to label a table I made so people knew what it was supposed to be! And PVC plumbing pipe is far too flimsy (I tried, and it was horrible to both use and behold).

I've priced spares, and even on Fleabay they're outside my $100-ish budget. At least, for reasonably non-flimsy kit, anyway. Since I'm winding and potting my own coils, they're not going to be butterflies, so I need something relatively robust.

However (here comes the sob story, hankies ready?), I've got a badly buggered back, with enough titanium in my spine, chest, and right butt cheek to make the average treasure hunter get an unpleasant gleam in their eye that makes me reluctant to turn my back to them. The bottom line is that I need something moderately ergonomic - although I'll be using a Bungy to assist me out in the wilds. Of course, this also means I'm on a miserable disability pension, hence my ridiculously low budget.

So, if anyone has any kind of old, defunct, diseased, or forever unusable stem/staff set that you'd otherwise trash, please drop me a line, I could make you rich, if by "rich" you'd be happy with $100 or less...

I'm in the Yarra Valley north-west of Melbourne, but I'd be more than happy to pick up pretty much anywhere in Victoria, and naturally I'll pay for any postage & handling costs!

    Thanks fer reading!

I think Georgi also sells detector stems at a low price.

Yes, Georgi does, but the complications of the only accepted payment option makes it considerably more complex, and the risk attached is unacceptable to me. (I have some unfortunate experience with the payment handler - admittedly a few years ago now - and I don't use credit cards online for any reason. Been there, done that, paid the price.)

But thank you for the suggestion. I was looking at Georgi's thread with a lot of interest... No offence to Georgi, it's not his fault!

Georgi take PayPal, as much as possible safe way of payment.

I am buying twice from him without any problem.

          Accurate seller - highly recommended.

P.S. That's exactly the parts I was hoping to price more reasonably - the few online resellers I've tried haven't been able to get the price below about AUD$190, although admittedly including the elbow thingamabobby. But that's probably the one part I *am* able to butcher/whip up myself without offending anyone who looks at it!

Thanks for the information, it's always good to hear good news about small businesses like Georgi's... Do you know if he has a website, or does he usually work through the forums? The reason I ask, is that I don't always know what exactly I'm looking for, so having a list is very helpful to a little person like me!
              Cheers,
              PtB

Georgi is a very honest seller. I bought Georgi products repeatedly and everything went very well. Recommended to 100%.
