Xpointer Pinpointer, Similar To Garrett. Spares Or Repares....Make Me A Offer.

hi guys.

some of you may remember i put up a post a couple of weeks ago of this pointer folsing when you rubbed the tip round in the ground etc.
out of frustration i took it upon myself to try and see if the coil/ferrite bar was damaged. well it definitely is now. i tried to take it out the hard way from in the inside out. which was rather difficult and was probably the stupidest way as well. so i ended up drilling a smallish hole in the tip of the probe in the end and pushed the coil out that way which came out first push.

now the the wiring loops on of the coil and the ferrite bar were both damaged by my recklessness who knows which was at fault. coil or bar.

also now i have noticed when you switch on the pointer all you get is the switching on sounds the motor spins at the same time but the sensitivity button does nothing now. whether this is due to the coil now not working i have no idea.

you will notice a cable tie at the end were the battery cap screws on. this is because a couple of small cracks appeared that i noticed one day, some how. maybe the plastic used is not as good as that used by other companies. so i glued it on there for support.

yes i know, never let an idiot loose with things that they don't understand. but you all know what frustration feels like.

anyways i have been as honest as i can about the pointer. so if your interested make me an offer. i am sure someone will make good use of it.....

i have written a rather damning review of these pointers for another site, but due to the rules of that site i cant post a link, but all you need to know is that there are loads of faulty first batch ones out there, the company that sells them will only replace them if bought from them, so buyer beware, leave cheap ones on ebay where they belong, and buy direct, though for me the plastic is still too thin and crappy.

I just received mine from the supplier, and have not pulled it apart as yet, so as to confirm the cct board and other points of interest...

At this stage I have found it has some pros over the Garrett but as yet have not weighed and measured the wall thickness etc...

We have a large number of Garrett FAKES being sold on E-bay and many if not most of the buyers do not know.. They get it and give 100% positive feedback and are paying $140 Au for a fake... A Brand name one from the dealers sell for about $185....

There is no opposition here in Australia as it is either Garrett / MineLab OR Whites. And the Agencies have it all contracted such that an Agent in teh USA that could supply cheaper is not allowed to sell to US.. Or they can loose their agent rights. In addition warranty is a return to the original supplier... Thus difficult and hard for the little guy who wants a spare or one for his wife / kids...

I was going to chat to the supplier about getting a bulk buy, however need to test every one that comes in and I would also need to be the local contact etc... I can do the minor repairs and at least then keep any TAT issues under control (have a few as Loans etc).

For the $$$, when it included the security ring and lanyard and the improvements to the LED and sealing the speaker, 3min warning etc ; the one I have out performs the Garret by FAR...

I was after the broken one so that I could also inspect it and see what if any changes and if it was a copy ?
