  • Fisher ID Edge.. Good buy??

    Hello seekers of treasure!
I have been offered an "as new" Fisher ID Edge. Apparently recently purchased & the chap wants to upgrade to a fully waterproof detector.
    The asking price is ZAR 3000.00 (Roughly US$ 270.00 / GBP 206.00)
Before I even bother looking at it's physical condition etc. I need some advice/ opinions please.
I am familiar with the F2/F4 & F5 from Fisher, but not the ID Edge.
    Any comments??
    Thx
    Peter

F2/F4 & F5 from Fisher ---- they are NOT from Fisher. First Texas uses only trade mark, yes, while really Fisher does no MORE exist. had died many years ago as company.

Your post makes no sense at all. Maybe try again.

It's a wonderful detector especially if you get the 6" coil for it. And is deep with the 10" coil.
One of the last machines made by Fisher at Los Banos. It was discontinued along with the Excel, Coinstrike and goldstrike when Fisher was bought out by First Texas.
If you have ever used a Tesoro Cortes, the Edge is better.
I had three of them over the years. Only thing you have to watch is the search coil wire, they use junk wire that splits.
PM me your email address and I will send you some files on it.
In pristine condition they usually sell for about $250-350 with one to 3 coils.

            Thanks for your feedback guys!
My major concern is potential maintenance.
This is a 6 or 7 yr old detector, so if any coil or electronic maintenance is required in future,
will I find spares and/or someone to repair?

Fisher still has spare parts. If anything goes it seems like it was a keypad to turn on and off the detector on the faceplate. water droplets were able to get behind thru a vent hole?
I never had that problem, others have. Entire faceplate priced from Fisher was $22 plus shipping.

Sven. You are a star, my friend!

                That sounds very promising!
