Alan the CHANCE PI BUILD thread has the info on the PC Boards and all the build info. However right now there is no complete kit offered but thankfully the boards and the programmed controller are offered from Silverdog in the UK and they are of great quality. Putting together the rest of the commonly available components to build the CHANCE there are many of them on Silverdog's site and the 16 X 2 displays are available on ebay for about $2 to $5. Digikey or Mouser stock all the rest that is needed.

      Happy building!

it would be nice if you can sell the complete kit... finding components is a pain in the butt

Agreed, it is more effort to compile all the parts and that is the problem for Andy at Silverdog as well. Apparently he doesn't have time right now to offer complete board kits. Actually even when Silverdog offered board kits it did not include the 2 X 16 display, coil connectors, on off switch, standoff hardware, enclosure, boom, search coils, battery, etc. The 'kit' sold in the past was a 'Main Board and Key Pad board kit' and it is not unusual for any other kits to do the same. With this being primarily a builders and experimenters forum it is accepted as part of the process necessary to create a high performance detector at a very affordable price. The thing here is that the most difficult item to produce, a quality PC Board, is once again available to those interested in building an advanced detector with Visual Display, Multipulse technology, and menu selectable operating parameters. I have personally spent years in optimizing the performance of my detector for small gold detection and details of all of that information are available in the TECH FORUM 'Chance PI build' thread and in the COILS FORUM 'Chance PI coil thread'. I recommend that these threads be read to get a complete picture of the Chance PI detector.

This is an excerpt from the CHANCE PI BUILD thread that explains why I choose Chance PI:

For me the choice for CHANCE PI is driven by the sophisticated micro controlled, software defined, multi-pulse design, with potential for future software upgrades, a menu driven detector, 8us delay capability, discrimination at mid to high signal levels, with signal barrier(quiet threshold), iron masking, guard interval (sample delay),volume raise on detection settings, minimum operating voltage settings, zeroing, etc. all at my fingertips from the menu. As a result this is a detector that has much flexibility in it's setup by the user and it takes time to understand it and what info it is giving you. The audio output gives discrimination for gold/aluminum as a low tone, Silver/Copper as a very high pitched tone and Iron as a high tone. Coupled with Discrimination and Signal Strength indications from its VDI the user can deduce whether a target is worth digging if the signal is over 6 units of strength. The lack of an explicit user manual explaining this has caused much confusion in the detectors operation and that also has led to some frustration for early builders.

Note: Details of operating CHANCE PI are now much better understood than when originally introduced.

          Happy Building!

          Regards,

          Dan

I'm afraid that's why I can't do it at the moment - already doing it for 4 other kits and as you can imagine the time, money, space to order, stock, build these does not please the wife at times
