For PI coils I would use regular PVC insulated stranded wire. Probably no smaller than 0.5mm. Enameled wire will work but capacitance will be higher.

          Pi detector..
The two diodes 1n4148 these values are so common near the coil, but others must of tried other diodes is there a better one or is this just as good as it will ever get ?

Practically they work as well as anything else. I've tried "ultrafast" diodes and Schottkys but they are no faster.

A key element in faster diode recovery is the amount of clamp current you start with. So a higher resistor value buys you a lot more speed than a different diode.

so I chatted with a UK guy off here.. Great bloke
              he said...
"Until you’ve experimented with coils and built a few I wouldn’t spend too much money on coil wire. Initially all I used was the following stranded hookup wire from RS. RS PRO White, 0.13 mm? Hook Up Wire, 100m Stock no.:872-4473It’s only ?10.43 for a 100m roll and I’ve made quite a few coils "

its got an MPPE insulation much thinner than the normal PVC, so I now have it in red black and white.. from what I have read its a little more Green too..
Not made a coil yet... LOL

More a post to say thankyou !

He's right. Start with ordinary insulated wire, you'll get good results for little money. Using e.g. Teflon gets very little extra for a lot more money.

Your PCB is Rev A, but this still might be useful.
