  • WANTED only if ALIVE

Looking for an older D-tex SearchKing (SK-70?) detector in working condition. Circa 1981-82, these were the last models before they went out of business.
Also any Treasure magazines around the same date with field tests on the SearchKing & CoinKing (CK-30).

    Thank you

D-Tex SK 70 excellent working condition

I have a D-Tex SK 70 that I purchased new. I no longer have manuals or any extra components for it.
I used this for a long time and recovered many many many Cival War Relics, along with some Coinage and Standard finds. It is a well used machine but has been covered with Camo Tape since 85 so the original Decals etc are in nice condition.
I have been upgrading over time but have yet to find even a modern Detector that hunts as deep or gives as good of a signal as the SK 70. I still use it from time to time when Relic hunting but most detecting now is local for coins etc. so I use other units.
Are you a collector or looking for a SK 70 to use regular?
Make an offer or offer a trade, I may be intrested in parting with her.

      Hi

These were my favorite detectors .......my last one I sent to a repair station somewhere in Texas after Detex closed. The person claimed to be working on it, several months down the road. He said he lost it in his shop. And would send me a comparable detector to use until he found it. Never sent me one to use, never found my Detex and never compensated me for it.

These Detex models went very deep up in NY. Since I moved here to Georgia last Sept. I picked up a couple--CK & SK. As well as older Garrett Ground & Master Hunter Deepseeker which these two Detex units were based on.
I ended up selling them all. We have bad red clay mineralized soil here that plays hovac with most detectors. Now I know why no one owns a Garrett here. They just don't get any depth. I couldn't get more than 3" with the above detectors. The Garrett GTi1500 I had, about the same in depth, plus it wouldn't ID correctly here. The only detectors that work the best here are the Minelabs, the Fisher 70, some Tesoro models work ok.

When I get some extra cash, willl be looking at the Minelabs again.

So in saying that, I no longer will be interested in the Detex detectors. Thanx for asking. Have a great day.
