Software Differences

Golden Software Surfer is an interesting package for creating impressive displays from large, completed data files (this is called "post-processing"). MagSurvey, on the other hand, gives real-time 2-D and 3-D displays of the data while the survey is underway. At the same time, MagSurvey provides navigational assistance to the boat operator. MagSurvey also graphically indicates where holes exist in the survey area -- while the boat is still on station and can acquire the missing data. MagSurvey easily assists with navigation back to any point of interest at a later time or date, and allows for expanding an existing survey -- within certain limits.
