  • Compass 8" coil tops w/ ears FS

Several have been asking what to do if an ear breaks off their Compass coils; I can help. I have new tops for the Compass 8 inch coils with the ears in stock. You can replace the entire top of your coil with one. I also have the hardware for sealing the cable into the new top. Also, I have the weld-on ears for the Compass 12 inch coils in stock as well. I beleive The Break down is as follows. New Coil Top $10.00 plus another $35.00 for keith to replace the top. Keith also puts your old coil sticker on and replaces the old coil cable with brand new!...It's worth the Money as Compass coils are getting harder and harder to find. I have sold two Compass coils ( 3-1/2 & 6' ) for $100.00 each if that tells you anything about how hard they are to find....

We have a few 8 inch coils left and one or two 12 inch. In another year they will be impossible to find I assure you. There is no substitutes out there. Keith

            Compass coils and other parts

            Hi there,
great to see that someone is out there to fix the Compass coils. Is there a way of getting Compass electronic parts for the GoldScanner Pro too somewhere? What ever happen to Compass. A year ago or so they where still around .... kind off. We even have dealers over here in Europe still selling the complete Line off detectors and coils.

Would be nice if someone can get me some info.

            Thanks

            Harry, Germany

We have some parts, but maybe not for long. Most circuit parts are easy to get, but meters and case parts are not, as is the coils. Compass finally closed it's doors and did not make any of the parts available so others could benefit, so what can I say! We will continue to repair them especially the circuit boards, but we won't sell replacement boards--we will repair them instead so others can continue to have their Compass units serviced.
I agree with you, they are excellent units and it is ashame that parts will soon not be available , especially case, meter parts. We are now looking for a place that has meters with the same movement as Compass so to purchase a good supply of them, they do have a number of bad meters we have noticed over the many years we have been repairing them. Sorry but we can not sell the Schematics for them, those stay in house and will only be sold when we sell the business along with several hundred thousands of dollars of parts we have in stock, some obsolete.
We are happy to help you in any way we can and will sell you parts for as long as they are available, or help you repair it via phone, email or shipped to us here.
I do not have the details as to why Compass closed their doors this time, but there is a Compass forum on the Internet as a Yahoo Group you can locate in Yahoo.
You X100 model problem is you have water corrosion under the wax seal of the circuit board and most likely will need the wax removed to clean if it has yet to eat some of the circuit traces into on the board. This needs to be done yesterday or right after you dropped it into the water, this is why your threshold is drifting on you. You GS Pro needs the upper board repaired in it, there are not complete boards here for replacement, we repair the boards on the units as they are sent in to us. The upper boards is mostly ID board for your meter reading, so you must be having ID problems.
                  Hope this has helped.
                  Thank you much, Keith Wills
