  • For Sale : Multi-Electrode Resistivity system

    System consists of :
    * Earth Resistivity Meter
    built from design by John Becker, EPE April & May, 2003
    * Sequencer
    home design/build with PICAXE programmable controller to automate 2 electrode (pole/pole etc) readings from electrode array to the resistivity meter via relays.
    * Electrode array and earth lines
    line with 20 electrode spikes, half metre spacing, double wire to each electrode. Seperate earth double line

    The kit is a multi-electrode resistivity meter system which allows a line of 20 electrodes to be used for 2D resistivity surveys.
    Fully portable and run from 9v. It has been used privately with some success in finding underground cavities.
    The principles of 2D resistivity depth surveys are explained here <http://www.geoelectrical.com/gs_brochure2d.pdf>

    The sequencer is based on a Picaxe chip, programmed in BASIC, which individually sets relays on or off for direct electrical connections between electrode and meter. The various combinations of electrodes are cycled through by the program and for each reading, 2 electrodes are linked directly to the meter to allow the resistivity reading to be taken. This is accomplished using shift register and darlington array electronics wired on protoboards to control the relays. The sequencer also directly controls the Save and Move functions on the meter so the resistivity reading is logged on the meter and the meter is then automatically set up for logging the next reading. When all combinations have been completed the sequencer stops. A further set of readings can then be initiated with the electrode array in a new position or the logged readings downloaded to a PC for interpretation using available software. See <http://www.geoelectrical.com/download.html>. The BASIC program can be configured as required with standard Picaxe interfacing

    A description of the sequencer design will be supplied to the buyer together with EPE copies for the meter design. I am now moving on to magnetometer experimentation !
