  • Barracuda For Sale

    Hi folks,

I have decided to sell my Barracuda PI as I just don't have room for another detector in the house (2 surf pi's and 2 Cscopes are enough!).

The electronics are a 'SilverDog kit' that I assembled, coil is 8 X 10.5 inch (9.75 circular). The coil and stem are made of high impact resistant PVC so It is super light weight and totally corrosion resistant. Controls are a simple on/off switch and threshold (I omitted the pinpoint mode). She works beautifully well, see the pic below of the finds I made while testing her out at the beach!

I'm looking for about £150 for it.

If anyone would like to know more then I'd be happy to fill you in so just ask.

    Regards, Jim.

      Hi bernte_one,

If I open the box then all you will see are the batteries!!!

I use AA batteries (cells) and 2 PCB mounted holders from maplin

      http://www.maplin.co.uk/pcb-mounting...ry-boxes-10400

They are screwed to a peice of blank PCB that slots into grooves inside the box, the circuit board is screwed to the other side of the blank PCB.

The box is also from maplin

        thanks jim

        nice construction

i do it similar with enclosure - ordered some alu cases for euro format pcb
        like for my igsl

but basicly i use external battery pack 3x18650 li ion
so i can use for my different models

but needs extra space on stem

another solution is to use this
        http://www.dealextreme.com/p/12v-480...-battery-91001

but some say it take some hours for recharge

can use it for external pack or put it direct into detector box
        that would be cool

        regards

          Hi bernte_one,

That sure is a nice looking power pack and a good price, might have to get one myself.

I used to have a seperate power pack on my first surf pi, it was clipped to my belt but i often got frustrated with the cable to the detector getting snagged or tangled so I went back to keeping the power attached to the machine.

Thank you for the compliments on my build - I must say that your Barracuda is very good too!

          Cheers, Jim.

That's just too cool man, with an excellent build, not to mention 14" for a gold ring. Must be worth a mint ?
