  • total noob review of the book.

Hi guys I hope this can be of use to some potential buyers that are sitting on the fence due to being scared off by the technical details or the thought of it.
Being very new to electronics but willing to learn if possible and also interested in metal detecting I emailed one of the co authors asking specific questions about skill / knowledge levels needed. I received a great and what I know now to be honest opinion of course I didn't doubt the the email I wouldn't know until I fully read the book if you know what I mean.

Its a very good read including a brief history of metal detectors it seems to be a 60/40 split the 40 percent being technical in nature of course its dependent on a lot of factors how quickly you pick it up I read it three times I personally found the technical stuff fascinating.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a rip roaring 9
the technical information a matrix rating of 50%

Although English is not my native language, I have with my wife for half already read this book (translated). I am fascinated! The small coil experiments on pages 43 to 50 I have already explained to some extent. (I still lack a signal generator - but it is under construction) It is through this ingenious experiments to understand the details.! (Eddy currents in the metal, and so on). I think by such experiments is the greatest learning success. Finally, take a look behind the technology of metal detectors!! Interesting the theme: "Myths and Fallacies" on page 244 Very friendly of the authors to help in the reconstruction of the projects here in the forum and that they answer additional questions. Thank you for the exciting book.
