  • Raptor project questions

hi great learning project by the way if you wanted to drop the frequency to say 1.75khz is it just a question of adding caps.

how would you make it a dual frequency machine.

Raptor will continue to work for TX frequencies reasonably close to 10kHz, but reducing the TX to 1.75kHz will introduce a number of problems. The main issue will be with the GEB and DISC sampling circuits, which will no longer produce the correct delays required for sampling at the lower frequency. Although the filter sections will not be affected by the change, C6 (at the output of the preamp) will need to be increased in value. You will also need to check whether the coil is balanced at the lower frequency, and provides an RX phase offset that is compatible with the circuit. I suspect it could be made to work, but may require some significant redesign in the sampling section.

A dual frequency machine is a more complex animal. It might become a subject for Volume 2 of ITMD.

thanks for your reply I look forward with delight to ITDM 2 when and if its released which I so hope it is. I've read it cover to cover till the bindings grow weak its a fascinating read I'm nearly at the stage to begin experimenting I specifically want to shape the emf field I have some rough and I mean rough thoughts on this no figures just ideas for instance is it possible to use a carrier frequency a kind of piggy back system. And also is it possible to accelerate the emf I look forward to your thoughts on these matters.
