  • Raptor project questions

    Hello,

I have a question about the raptor project. This project is a good tutorial. Thank you for publishing this project.

I am using a DD coil from a local company. It is mentioned in the forums that the phase difference should be 20°. I know this is related to the coil used but is there any explanation on how this 20° is calculated?

Can you help with the signal shapes required for the most sensitive operation of the detector? There is an explanation in the book, but do these explanations change according to the coil used?

What difference does it make if the receiver coil has a resonant frequency of 10khz above or below?

The phase difference is between the TX and RX signals, and the value of 20° is required by the detector's electronics. Other detectors may require different phase shifts. Raptor requires coils that are compatible with Tesoro, and they must be the 5-pin type, not 4-pin.
One complete cycle of a sine wave is 360°. If the TX frequency is 10kHz, then the period is 100us. Hence 20° equals a phase shift on the scope of 5.56μs.

I'm not sure what you're asking here.

Probably not much, but I think Carl posted a comment on this some time ago. I cannot remember whether he said it was better to set the resonance higher of lower.
