  • Phase Shift Technology?????????????????????????????????

When metal detectors first were invented, they were known as BFO's. What in the world is a BFO??? It stands for Beat Freuency Oscillator. Now I am an old detector user, so that is what I used as my first detector. Then the electronics changed, andI was running TR IB units. Hey Melbeta, why are you confusing us
with these letters? Not confusing all of you guys, just confusing some of you guys. THE TR IB stands for Transmittor Receiver Induction Balanced. Not going to
explain this, as I am heading for an other matter.

So now, the industry has moved from BFO's and TR's into VLF's. They came out in 1975, when George Payne came out at Whites Electronics, with his new VERY LOW FREQUENCY detector. It ran 1.782 KHz frequency, which was the lowest frequency ever made. It was sensitive as hell though, in a test looking for Spannish Gold down in the Gulf Coast waters, it was so sensitive that it responded to the "SMELL of RUST"! so Whites, backed that frequency off, in 1976, the 200th Anniversary of America, they had a frequency of 6.592 on their NEW Whites Coinmaster V Supreme! Now I knew Ken White SR, also knew George Payne, and knew Charles Garrett. Also knew Charles brother in law, before he passed away, his name was Ray Price. Ray sold me my first metal detector... After Ray died, Fred Brust bought Ray's NTHL (National Treasure Hunters League) business. Again, not bragging, just telling the truth to tell you my stories...

I am getting to my point. The metal detector business is like the car business, always coming in with new models. Now with the cars today, it appears to me like we are getting our gasoline fuel taking away from us, in the coming future. I do not know about you guys, but I grew up with gas guzzling cars and trucks. These new ELECTRIC cars, have limited miles due to battery charges. Who wants to be out on the highway goind from one city to another city, when the battery runs down and your vehicle coasts to a stop??? Well not me, but I have a directory after directory, full of material. I am going to put in a post of guys, talking about the new GEB machines, which now have DISCRIMINATION in them. Not the older Distrimination thought, but an new one, called PHASE SHIFT DISCRIMINATION...

Do I like that? No, I was raised on the older Discrimination. So I use older machines. I am going to let you read post, and suddenly in it, here comes George Payne into the forum. Now George is a very smart man, and I really like him. I have never met him in person, but I have met him on the phone, and he does not try to pull the wool over my eyes. Some do though. But not George...

So right new, is the postings in a forum, and in comes George Payne, and he tells it clear, and tells it truthfully. He tells the good, the bad, and the beautiful about Phase Shifting. Now no matter if you like it, or love it, or hate it, we need to learn about everything that is going on in the metal detectors. What am I? I am neutral, just stay out of in front of me when I am detecting. I do not like rejecting good targets. I want to dig up all solid targets, no matter if they are good or bad, and decide myself if I keep them, or toss them into the trash barrel. I have an saying, and it is my saying, not so much your saying, but here it is... THE MORE YOU DIG, THE MORE YOU FIND! Now it is true. But our hands, our backs, cannot dig that much. At least I cannot...

So what I do, is unlike the rest of you guys. I metal detect BELOW THE TRASH LEVEL... I am not going to teach it to you, as I need no more competition in front of me out there detecting. What I am going to tell you is when you Discriminate a target, some good targets and some bad targets, ALL COME IN AT THE SAME FREQUENCY, OR AT LEAST AT A FREQUENCY SO CLOSE TOGETHER, that the discrimination rejects both good and bad targets. I search in ALL METAL mode. You do what you want to do and I will do what I want to do. I do not tell others what they should or should not do, and I sure do not want others to tell me what to do or not do too...

First, here is what George says about what he said that day...

For some reason, I am not being able to post files, it is not the forum, just what I am doing. So here going to post George Paynes file explaining a technical thing regarding X and R things in the Ground Exclusion Balance method of Discrimination vs All Metal detection. Ahhh! I think I just figured it out on uploading...

Since I have a large folder, with lots of George Payne files, that he wrote, and I like reading what George says, Here is another file George wrote, explaining ID Meters and the good, the bad, the beautiful of the ID METERS. Enjoy..... AHHH... Finally figured it out how to post and how to attach files, and also now how to attach photos too....

Back in the good old days, Whites Electronics and also Teknetics were building and selling metal detectors. Now earlier George Payne had worked for Whites Electronics, and Ken White Sr, thought George was figuring out things, and not giving them to Whites Electronics, so he sued Teknetics in a big lawsuit. Now I studied law at the Univ of Nebr, so am very cognazant regarding law, as I was originally a Broker Owner running my own real estate company, and I had 72 sales people, both men and women, working for me. Now I did not hire then and say get busy, I trained and taught them regarding real estate, and my reputation grew
very much in town, so much that my business TOOK OVER the listing of houses for sale. Again, not bragging, just telling the truth. Well two real estate companies, got into a legal fight, now some may know this story, many more do not, but I got the legal documents, and here is the 4 pages of the lawsuit. At the end, Whites Electronics lost the case, and Teknetics along with Bounty Hunter went on their merry way. Later, one of the owners would get into a divorce with his wife, who had the money to invest for him in Tek Ltd, the parent company of Teknetics and Bounty Hunter, and the divorce would ultimately end up taking the business and the Tekneitics and Bounty Hunter machines to First Texas who ended up the final winnner. We all learn from what we do, and we also learn from what we did not do, and are later unhappy because we made a wrong decision...

So what I said, was true, as I do not want to say anything but the truth, and here it is, from my George C. Paine folder.........The actual documents from Whites vs Teknetics in a court of law... Enjoy the legal story...

Now when George Payne invented the VLF, he made his first metal detector. Now I know what that first metal detector was, and I doubt that any but myself is familiar with that very first metal detector? Anyone???? Well, George Payne is today, in the metal detector creation and designs, for tree lumbering. And that was
the very first metal detector that George Payne designed and made. A metal detector to FIND iron nails and nails in general, in the virgin trees, in the forest areas,
so that the CHAIN SAWS coming later, would not be injured by metals in the tree trunks...

Does it have Discrimination inside it? I do not think so............

So let me say, George Payne is not only very good in electronics, but was very astute in regard to lumbering in the forests of the northwest... And Georges full name is George Calvin Payne. I found him very truthful and very forthcoming in my telephone calls to him at Compass Electronics and other places where he worked. He told me about the very short supply of the last of the Bounty Hunter machines in stock one day, and I bought two of them, and I think they might have been the very last two of the Bounty Hunter Big Bud Pro SE PLUS that Bounty Hunter was creating, just before IRS (Internal Revenue Service) came running in and seized all of the assets prior to non-payment of income taxes during that divorce of the man who owned the majority of Tek Ltd, and his wife, who had given him the money to invest in Tek Ltd.

I have Monte, talking about the Compass Challenger X100 unit, along with both Monte and Chief Engineer John Earle, of Compass Electronics, who is explaning his Vari-Filter technology in the Scanner models, in good detail. Then Monte goes into what he knows regarding the infamous Compass Fire just before Compass Electronics closed their doors and went out of business. Very interesting on both posts...I think myself, it was so the new foreign owner, could make a claim and collect fire insurance on the "apparent loss", before the doors would be closed... Now I could be wrong, but that is my thoughts after studying that story on the foreign owner.....
