I have an photo of the Wells Fargo business, in San Francisco CA, inside of it, I enhanced it, stuck in extra pixels into it adjusted the photo, and here is is below, the man is weighing some gold nuggets from a miner who is dirty to the bone. It is a look back into time for all of us. Notice the REVOLVER PISTOL laying to the right of the SCALE??? HE did not want to get robbed I guess back then...I want you to see the STAGE STRONG BOX, by the customers left hand as well. I have another photo of a LARGER STRONG BOX that I also enhanced like this photo! Notice the detail I managed to put into the photo... Now that is my skill at enhancement of old vintage photos. Not all enhance this good though...........It is an look back "into time"!!!!

This is a LARGE SIZE strong box, from Wells Fargo company, I enlarged it, stuck in lots of pixels, then enhanced it for contrast, clarity, etc., etc........
Enjoy the photo...apparently they wanted to make sure the bandits could not haul it away from where the robbery took place???

I suspect at least some of these stories are bogus, but unlike a lot of other compilation books of buried treasure he avoids the obvious nonsense stories. And a lot of his accounts are based on talking to first-hand witnesses. So probably his book would be a good place to select a few treasures for further research.
Yes, I agree with you 100%. I have both his and Lake Erie's booklets, and have studied him and his exploits for years. I was working on merging his and her booklet's stories together, as both are deceased. He had the rawhide map to Peralta hidden under a large calender which was on top of the Peralta map. The map is now in a museum in Phoenix, but I have a photo of it it, and did some work to make it more legible, but it was pretty worn and a poor piece to put a map drawing upon. Yes, he was an good investigator of the old stories as he was alive yet when he went to talk first hand to witnesses. If I was younger, I would take off chasing some of those old stories as I do suspect they some are true. I have the material, just do not possess the younger body anymore. I knew Ken White Sr, by telephone, not in person, also knew George Payne, Charles Garrett, Ray Smith, and some others, all by telephone, but only knew one in person, who traveled to my store in Knob Hill to meet me one day. He was the person who let me know that Fisher still had a lot of the older vintage detectors in stock, so I began purchasing and selling them and cleaned them out of that vintage stock. If you recall, I asked you to check to see if Ken White Sr still had the older vintage schematics in Whites Electronics? I suspected that Ken destroyed them after he lost the lawsuit against George Payne. So now I know that only two people still have those missing schematics, one is George Payne. I will not disclose the name of the other one. Day by day, one learns more and more of the what vanished over the years.

On Jack Roach, he worked in the Space Industry, the U.S. government, obviously informed him it is either Semtech, or us, and he wisely made the right choice. I have his Semtech unit I believe, in my hands. But I have no factory schematics regarding the Semtech. When Semtech went into production, they must have sent him a special unit, he gave it to one of his friends to secretly sell for him on eBay. I think Semtech, was kind of like PRG, sold a few, but then abandoned production and abandoned their advertising that unit years ago... But that is just one of my many guesses... Jack Roach, vanished and never was heard from publically again! I have done searches, but to nothing regarding Jack Roach. You see, he graduated from a University in northern Colorado. He used to test metal detectors, along with John Earle, Chief Engineer with Compass Electronics, and also with engineers from Whites Electronics and one who ended up with Minelab... Interesting is it not? Apparently only 300 units were made and sold by Semtech. Now Roach borrowed the Ground Condition Control circuit from Compass, I wonder what else and from who he borrowed other circuits?

Frank Fish was a very good researcher and finder of buried treasure. I really enjoyed him. I just found my Teaser booklet, where I took photos I enhanced, and made them far clearer then the originals. I love doing that. i call this one a teaser booklet, as I took some of the bad interesting photos, enhanced them, and started a booklet. I want to finish it later on. But it is started now...The old time photos, are not as clear as our today photos. So I enhanced them, add pixels to them, fool with contrast and brightness, and viola... Look at the depth down into these enhanced photos. From them, one can see more then one story...One can grasp the entire story.

I was a National Park Ranger, down in Holbrook Arizona, back in 1961. They put me in the trailer house, with Edward Paul Abbey, a famous writer, and Kirk Douglas was in New Mexico, at that same time, making a movie of Abbey's book, "The Lonely Cowboy". I loved watching Kirk Douglas movies, so Abbey wrote an short introduction for me, to the Director of the movie, but I never got the chance to go there to watch the filming of that movie. The movie was called "Lonely Are The Brave". I got the newspaper release while the movie was being filmed, and I still got Abbeys written introduction to the Director... Since we have that connection, I am going to stick in the material from Arizona, so you can read it and see that time back in 1961. But it is filed away in storage right now, and I will have to see if I can find the storage container. While I was in Arizona, my cousin was in Albuquerque, lining up girls for Kirk to date in Albuquerue. Coincidence? I don't think so.......But first, I found a file showing the 3 METEORITES I found in the past, and the photos of the 3 meteorites!!! MELBETA Meteorites.pdf

While studying Frank L. Fish, who was then deceased, I had two of the booklets regarding Fish. So I read them both. I knew that he was very good at researching and even more good at using a detector, without discrimination to find buried valuables. We all like stories, including myself. I just today put together and finished, a booklet I started doing several years ago. So here it is today, ready to print out, I used to do that, and sell the booklets, but I do not print them out anymore, just secure them ready to be printed out and sold. It is based on the files Frank Fish used to researche. And any photos in it are enhanced by myself! MELBETA Melbeta last Booklet_S_NP_001.Pdf

In 1849, gold was found at Sutter's Fort, on the stream that ran through his land. I got an early book, of a person who went to Sutters gold diggins, during the early days! Since some like to read books with 49 pages of history, I stick it right below. Where in the world can one find what I have saved??? From myself of course! Now it is not just a reading of history, there is knowledge from the 1849 time period in it as well!!! MELBETA California 1849_S_NP_001.Pdf

Back in the year 1961, I was working with the U.S. Dept of the Interior, specifically stationed at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Monument. It was about to be changed to a National Park the next year. I roomed with Edward Paul Abbey, the famous Environmental Author. At that time, Kirk Douglas was in New Mexico, filming the movie of one of Edward Abbeys books. The book was called "The Brave Cowboy" and the movie was called "Lonely Are The Brave". At least i think it ended up with that kind of name. It would become Kirk Douglas FAVORITE MOVIE of all of the movies he made and acted in. I was going to go and watch the filming, and Edward Abbey gave me a written introduction to the Director of the movie, but things came up, and I could not leave the Painted Desert, so I did not get to go to the filming and meet Kirk Douglas. But my cousin knew Kirk Douglas, as my cousin got Kirk ladies to go out to dinner with him in Albuquerque, which was the capital of New Mexico. However, I still have Edward Abbey's note to the Director. I will dig it out and post it here if there is any interest in seeing what Edward Abbey said in the note. Myself? I was an Historian and I lectured on Geology and History. And at times, I sold tickets along with Edward Abbey into the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert park... Other times I drove a Park vehicle and watched for people trying to steal petrified wood in the park area. Kirk Douglas bought the movie rights from Abbey for $12,000.00 you see. I think Kirk was the producer of that movie.Kirk Douglas died at age 102 years old. Well, I found the photo of Kirk Douglas, and the things about Lonely are the Brave movie, but for some screwy reason that I do not know about, it posted lines of code, not the photo of Kirk Douglas and the story of the movie. I give up on it Ivconic! I have old computers, and dial up internet service, as I live in a forest area, and the outside is cold winter. But what I said was true. Just cannot prove it.......

Now I have to apologize to you Ivconic. I suffer from Short Term Memory Loss, and I did not LINK the Oil Light with the Oil Light User Guide. here I am writing a post of support, so you can continue.
Know that your experiences are very valuable and appreciated and definitely belong in this forum.
Such and similar stories, collected in one place: will mean a lot to someone one day.
Because when it comes to metal detectors... it should actually be about people first.
Because if you remove the human from the "equation" and only the metal detector remains; what essentially remains?
A ridiculous pile of stupid and utterly unintelligent electronics.
If we could do a statistical analysis on a global scale... we are very few and far between.
Our number can hardly be expressed in per million.
But what still brings us to the surface and makes us visible; are just such human stories.
There are some who spend their whole lives in delusion, believing that the metal detector is a device that is an important factor in the whole story.
I sincerely regret such. They wasted their lives in ignorance.
Because the whole story revolves around man, spirit, enthusiasm, a child's desire for adventure and the need for adrenaline.
And of course with many very interesting human stories. Blockbuster films could even be made on the basis of some of them.
So what you are doing here on the forum is, in my humble opinion; a very important component in the whole story.
Keep it up, you have my support and attention. And I believe that over time more and more of them will understand the importance of such topics.
In any case, know one thing; everything you leave here of yourself: stays here forever.
Best regards and keep up the good work!

Ivconic, I am sorry, I thought it was you who posted the USER GUIDE to the Oil Light, got a health problem, it was another guy who posted in another posting area. I am catching up on things, and am moving into my twilight years. But in my youth, I was working the old Gold Mining Districts near to where I could access them. Some stories I can tell, others I will not tell, for my own reasons. Where some dream, I grabbed the dreams, and made them reality instead of dreams. Yes, I lived for some time, in HOLLYWOOD, met lots of dreamers who wanted to be Movie Stars. Some made it into some movies, but never became stars. It takes a lot to become a movie star. I was not interested in becoming a movie star myself. What I wanted, I got it, I did it!!! Not bragging, just telling the truth. Run into what ever you want, and get it before time makes it disappear. So what you want, go for it, before it is gone. Because it will vanish you see. Father Time will take it away eventually. Nothing lasts forever on the earth. Only that beyone the earth is immortal. I met one old man, who was involved with that Cripple Creek Mining District, back in that vintage time, had dinner with him one night, but he was old then, and later died. He wrote some books about his time in that Cripple Creek Gold Mining District, I showed I had them, he autographed them for me. I will leave that lay now...

Back in the 1970s, and the 1980s, I was running my own real estate office in Colo Springs. So I had lots of time, I would take off, with government map folios, and rare books, and head up to the old mining areas in Colorado. I detected them well, I live on land removed from an old 1868 ranch, located right next to my land. Metal detecting it, brings up in one area, vintage things, which I think was an old place where an guy worked on horse shoes, and hand hammered out vintage hand hammered nails, as I found a heck of a lot of old hand made nails. That stuff is junk to most people, but to me, it is not junk! It is history..

As a youth, I trapped animals, skinned them, sold the skins, one of my uncles used to do that too, he taught me how to trap. So In Lincoln, I ran across an old tailor, told him about it, he loved it...He used to take those old leather pieces, and made them into things for people to wear you see, so that is why he loved to hear my stories.

I could tell you some stories, beyond the earth, but I remain silent and only tell my family about those things. You see, I was on Operation Moonwatch program, in Oct of 1957, helped track Sputnik I. Smithsonian Institution was involved with beeping radio. I had a elbow telescope, star chart, when sputnik passed into my star chart, I recored my sighting location into the beeping radio sound for Smithsonian people, marked the star chart, handed it in, all the star charts were sent to Smithsonian, from that, the scientists and math guys, developed tracking formulas and tracking devices. Ah those were the days my friends! I thought it would never end, but it ended. By the time Sputnik II was sent up, the guys had things to track the space objects being sent up. We had people from the Space industry stationed in my area. I encountered them, they wore Space patches you see. Told them I was on that program. Man oh man were they wanting me to tell them about Operation Moonwatch. Now that was not a secret, is history now. That is as far as go right now. All I can say is America was caught with it pants down with Sputnik I, but by the time Sputnik II was up, America was no longer bare bottom. You see, the Astronomy guys, heard I built my own space telescope, so I was invited to participate and assigned an elbow telescope to use. I participated! That is as far as I go now...
