I was an Historian, and a National Park Ranger, in Holbrook Arizona, back in April 1961, roomed in an Park trailer house with the famous writer Edward Paul Abbey. I wrote later on, an booklet about that PARK, I enhanced each color photo as I learned to do that as an PRINTER's Devil in Denver working for an printing company in Downtown Denver Colorado in 1954. I met two young ladies, who were on their way to Hollywood CA, one of them was Maxine Arnold who worked for Hollywood people making movies. The other one was Phyllis Silvers, who was an heiress for the Silvers Department Stores back then located in Bayonne NJ!!! I had entered the NPS back in 1960, working for the Scotts Bluff National Monument in Gering NE. I lecturd on Geology and the History of the Oregon Trail, the history of the Santa Fe Trail, and the California Trail, and met Earl Harris, a historical writer later on.
Here is the booklet I wrote, one can download it and read it, but since I wrote it, it is secured against printing but one can download it and read it. It is very historic and interesting to read. I bought an Leica 35mm camera back in those days, cost me $1,200, I use it to take color photos for my books that I write and stick in enhanced color photos.
At that time, in 1961, Edward Abbey had sold the movie rights to movie star KIRK DOUGLAS, who was filming one of Abbeys books, called "The Lonely Cowboy", and the movie was known as "Lonely Are The Brave"... Inside my story is an Autograph of Kirk Douglas to the person in New Mexico who was filming the movie.... Kirk Douglas, later in a interview, said that movie was KIRK's FAVORITE MOVIE, of all of the movies Kirk Douglas starred in and filmed. Who ever likes to read what I write, will enjoy reading this booklet... I had gathered the MOVIE STORY from the local newspapers back then, and I stuck that vintage news story into my booklet along with Abbeys autograph.....That summer, I was also inside the Meteor Crater further west and near the Grand Canyon.
Now this is not metal detector information, but is very historic as I took the history of that area, enhanced it as well.
