  • Operation Moonwatch..............

In October, the year of 1957, the Soviet CCCP Union, sent up into space, the first Sputnik #1, it housed and contained the first occupant, an Soviet MONKEY. I was on that operation, which was called OPERATION MOONWATCH #1, and manned an elbow telescope! I tracked that Sputnik, from the instant it appeared in the extreme high position, far in the NW part of the sky, early hours of morning, down it went, blinking and blinking! It went below the lowest part of the sky, right beneat the astronomical SIRIUS, which was called a dwarf star back then. I pushed down my telegraph key, right next to the elbow telescope, registering my tracking of SPUTNIK #1, in the Smithsonian Institiute beeping radio, and I then shut my elbow telescope off, and had coffee and a donut to consume. The next Soviet rocket, would carry an HUMAN BEING into space!!!!!!!! His name was Soviet Cosomonaut Gregarian, and I think I recall his first name was Andre I believe. He was the FIRST MAN into space. I did not track him, I tracked the FIRST MONKEY into SPACE!!!!!!!!!!

Thank is my history, I tracked the first MONKEY, not the first HUMAN, into space. But at least I got the first SOVIET Space Rocket into space!!!!!!!!

Back in my youth, I built my own ASTRONIMICAL telescope, in approximately around the year of 1947, by ordering parts and lenses, from an place in America. I and my little brother, who is since deceased, looked up into the night sky, at the planents, and were one of the first viewers as children, who built their own telescope!!!!! I ordered the lenses from Edmonds Scientific, and we used a cardboard tube, that formerly held a kitchen lineoleum around the cardboard tube. At the University of NEBR, Department of Astronomery, they learned about myself, and invited me to participate in OPERATION MOONWATCH that early morning, tracking a monkey in an rocket through the NW high part of the early morning sky, down to the NW horizon. By pressing that electronic railroad telegraph KEY, I became part of the history in space!!!! I do not remember my age, but I was a young kid on an farm north of the town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Later I would marry my second wife, have my 4th child, who would become an DOCTOR, go to work at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and teach the Air Force Cadets classes so they could graduate as United States of America Air Force Cadets.

I was in a fast food restaurant, there sat some U.S. SPACE FORCE AIR FORCE men and women, I walked up to them, asked them if they knew about Operation MOONWATCH, stuck my hand out, they smiled and shook my hand, and asked me to tell them my historical story........That was in Burger King along the highway on the east side of town!!!!!! They had heard of OPERATION MOONWATCH, but did not know the history of it, and I told them my story, and they all shook my hand!! Now that felt better then the actual participation in OPERATION MOONWATCH!!!!!!!! They all wore the cloth patch of America's SPACE FORCE you see!!!!!!!!! And so I thanked that MONKEY who went up in space for my experience in October of 1957!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has any of you met an important MONKEY in your lives??????????????????????????

And so, my 4th child, has his JOB, do to an MONKEY in SPACE, at the U.S. Air Force Academy!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I proud??? You bet I AM PROUD..........................
