  • White's Coinmaster 1/D - Need help !

Hi all, does anyone know how to tune a White's Coinmaster 1/D ??? It is also called a 1 TR D or 1TR D/X . This detector is a mystery. The control box says, Coinmaster 1/D tr discriminator, but the label inside the battery box says 1TR DX ??? It is working and I can pick up some ferrous item but it goes silent on all precious metals and non- ferrous stuff. I can't find a manual anywhere. I didn't see one on White's website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks RDF

Well, the "mystery " is solved...someone put a tag from another unit inside the battery box. They scratched out the "X" after the "D". ...so what I really have is a White's Coinmaster 1/D.
It must be a rare unit because no one seems to know anything about it. It still picks up metals but goes silent on good stuff....frustrating.

only old dealer can give you manual. but sometimes they pay huge price... and that is capitalistic world, not socialistic like
killed USSR was. you could go to a guy on street and simply asked 'can you give me a smoke?' and
everybody gave you smoke without problem. all people are brothers. were.
      read Melbeta's opus.

ID and IDX are more modern, from 90th. your one is from 70th.

...Well, this old unit is headed for Ebay. I tried everything I know but jut couldn't get it to pick up precious metals. It will be good for a relic hunter or cache hunter but not coins & jewelry. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks, RDF.

I know this is an old thread, but for interest, I'm replying.
I have a 2 / TR-D at the moment, it may be similar.
Does it have a multiturn pot, labelled METAL / MINERAL ? If so, you have two ways of operating it, one way responds to non-ferrous, the other to ferrous. If you start off from fully clockwise and adjust until you get a threshold tone you have it set one way. If you set it fully counter-clockwise, and turn it until a threshold tone, is responds the opposite way.
The pot basically adjusts from SILENT to CONSTANT-TONE to SILENT as you turn it from one limit to the other. The two transition points are where you can operate it at.
