    Hi all,

Just found this forum. Glad to see it. I have been collecting old detectors for a number of years. My total is up to around 50. They are most all pre-discriminators.

I do have Garretts first discriminator. Along with many of the old names, Rayscope, Raytron, Detectron, D-Tex, Ray Jefferson, Goldak, most of the old Fishers, many Garretts, Whites. I am sure I am forgetting many names. Have a Relco that works with a transistor radio.

I am running out of storage room so I have cut back on my buying. I agree with a previous post about ebay. I have found that the prices are getting way to high. Don't know why. Over the years I have lost several good ones to people who were probably just looking for one of them thar treasure finders to strike it rich. And only wanted to spend $150. Looking at their bids they bid on all the low priced junk detectors. The units probably just ended up in the closet or the trash after a few weeks.

I will post some photos at some point. Had most all of them displayed at the FMDAC convention in Niagara Falls this past May. Takes up a lot of table space (and transportation space and a lot of time to set up and pack up).

I also have a quite a few manuals and other literature for the units I have. Would be glad to make copies for anyone who would need one.

Thanks Carl for this forum. I had thought of doing a website for old detectors. Complete with photos, company histories, literature and manuals. One that would be added to and changed/corrected as info becomes available from the visitors to the site. A severe lack of time precludes me from doing it at this point in my life.

        Old Metal Detector

On the Goldmaster, it would help if you posted a picture of it. The Goldmaster was made by Whites. The name that you mentioned may be the name of the dealer that sold it back in the 60's or 70's! This was a TR discriminator only, no Vlf, that came later. Mostly sold to Collector's, depth is poor compared to any of the more recent designs!! Good Luck Joe

          Mark's Detectors

How about posting a picture of your collection? It sounds like it may even rival Carl's!!! Thanks Joe

I will try to post some photos shortly. I am not very knowledgeable in the photo posting dept.

The photos are very large files and I know nothing about editing. I will try to load them into my photobucket account and work from there. I am on a crappy slow dial up account so it will take awhile.
