  • Bounty Hunter TR-1000-D

    Hello
I have a question: A friend of mine gave me a Bounty Hunter TR-1000-D and I have no clue as how to set it up which I'll figure out by trial and error because he had no manual but my question is... is it a good starter, and what can I use it for as far as detecting because I see they have some for coins, and others for gold. I appreciate any advice given. Thank-you Sully

    GOOD FOR A STARTER:

MAYBE OR MAYBE NOT IT DEPENDS..............................Sorry but I have no experience with the TR1000-D. Some of the early TR's had good depth and some didn't.Tune it to a slight threshold and make sure that it is tuned in the metal section of the tuner and not the mineral side! Not sure if this is a discriminator or not? If it is, set it to pick up nickels. Throw some coins down in a metals free area and raise the loop to see how high up the coil will pickup the coins. 5 to 6 inches is good for these type detectors. If it has electronic problems it may not be worth fixing. You can pick up a good VLF/TR IN THE $40.00 TO $100.00 RANGE. The VLF/TR will pick up the same coins at least 6 to 8 inches away from the loop. Of course, this is a very simplified test many factors will determine the real actual depth!!!.........................JOE
