  • MYTY MYTE

Does anyone have any experience with this detector? I expect it to be similiar to the Compass Coin Hustler! It must have been very popular in the late 1960's and very early 1970's, it is in most Treasure Hunting Magazines from this era. Thanks Joe

I have one, but know little about it. Ty Brooks is familiar with them.

        Myty - Myte any good?

When I was a M.D. dealer back in the 70s I sold the MM. It was the cheapest detector that actually worked good that was on the market at the time. It worked very good, it of course did not have fantastic depth, but it was sufficient. I NEVER got one back for repair! They had two models but I don't remember what the more expensive one was called. It had a little more depth and a fine tune pot on it. (I just looked at the photo again Duuuh! Of course, it was called a Deluxe!)

Only 6 transistors, no ICs. Transmitter in search coil.

            Joe (TX),

Send me a PM and I'll try to answer any questions about the MM. I have a new one (not for sale) in original box. Works as well as about any TR unit of that era.

By the way, with 3 caps (trimmers for accuracy) you can make the MM a pretty darn good discriminator.

            HH,
            Ty

                Myty Myte as a discriminator...

Caps can be added across the receive coil (along with a switch) to select the conductive range of any targets you wish to ignore.

How many other detectors does that work with, and how did you find out about it?

I thought it was common knowledge, I have a schematic that shows how to connect caps, along with value. I have no idea what other detectors that it might work with, but my guess would be any detector that has a center tapped receive coil.

                      Can you post the schematic?

If you can handle .pdf files and will send me your email address, I'll certainly send you a copy of the MM schematic.

Would you be able to post the MM schematic here on this forum?

I can provide the schematic to someone who can post it, but I can't get it to post. It is in .pdf format.

Send me a good email addy, and I'll send you a copy.
