  • Fisher MARK 7 underwater detector

I was able to borrow this unit from a dive shop. Anyone have any information about it? Manual and schematic would be nice.

    FISHER MARK 7

Hi Joe! Does it work? Back in the early days of water/salvage/treasure hunting, some metal detecting companies opted to have the control box mounted in the boat connected to a large search coil. This coil could be lowered to the ocean/river floor with a rope, and basicly would be dragged along the ocean floor until a signal was heard! Then a diver would investigate the signal. This was probably before scuba, so the diver would have to free-dive or use the old-style diving apparatus. Also does it take the old-style large batteries?..............I don't believe that many of these were made! So it is probably rare!......................Good Luck...................Joe

Well, I contacted JW Fisher, they said they would send me an operators manual but not a service manual.

      Oh well.

Have not opened it up yet, so don't know about the batteries. It does have a jack for an external DC power source.

Here is the inside. First picture shows internal battery connector, similar to a 9 volt connector but twice as large. There was no battery pack, so I assume it was only used with the external supply. Very few components, will have to wait for the manual before going further.
