The Nano PI book shows a series resistance of 1K before 1N4148 clipper circuit. I guess that is to keep the max peak current and inverse peak voltage to the specs (2A and 100V).
Doesn't the 1K resistor remove some of the key parts of the decay curve when the voltage has dropped to .7V across the forward biased diode. Assuming that you want 10 mA flowing through,
the decay voltage would have dropped to 10V and you are sampling .7V from the 10V. So is the decay voltage of 10V across the coil the correct spot to start sampling?
