  • Barracuda kit capacitor contents ?

Hi, all I have a question about the capacitors in my new barracuda kit, It comes with 3- .1j63 caps and 2- .1k63 caps for a total of 5. They are all 100n caps with different tolerance correct? Does it matter where I install the .1j and the.1k on the PCB? same question with the 4- 4n7100 and the 1- 4n7k100 witch are 4700pF with different tolerance. Also if anybody would happen to have a completed barracuda picture so I can compare mine to it and make sure I have all the caps in the right place that would be great. I have seen other pics on here but they all have a green board with gray caps, mine is red board with white caps.

On a phone at the moment hard to copy and paste. If you look at the schematics in the Baracuda zip you will see part of the circuit is mirrored this is where the tight tolerance parts go

the schematics I have found are not very clear to see any mirrored circuits, Is there a clearer version that I haven't found?

not sure what you mean by mirrored either. Trying to find better schematics.

Q3 and Q4 are back to back on the schematics don't think there are any others than the hand drawn ones.. As far as I know this is the only place where matched components help.

Sent email to silverdog and he says they can go anywhere they just came from a different supplier.

              Yes they will work anywhere.

There is a slight performance increase if you match around Q3 and Q4 info from here read on for a couple of pages. Not critical.

Photo of my board will not help you as I used my own components. Hopefully someone can post one for you

Ok, so I should use the caps with the lowest tolerances closest to Q3 and Q4? You are only talking about +/- 5% for a J tolerance or +/- 10% for a k tolerance that's not that much. A F is 1% and the best high end cap would be +/- 0.1 pF. my opinion i s 5 to 10 % tolerance is close enough for what we are doing. I don't think it will work that much better with a lower tolerance. but what do I know I am not a electrician just a Certified emergency vehicle tech. ( not trying to be smart just stating a fact) I love learning what I can out here.
