I got an early Christmas gift from my girl and need some help. My new toy is an older Anchor Barracuda Pi machine. It's in excellent condition with both an 8 and 12" inch coil. Very little info is available online for this model and here is my issue. The original nicads are long gone and it has been modded with 8 AA rechargeables pack with a 9V connector. This unit charges thru the headphone connector that is similar to the excal charger, forgive me if I do t know the jargon. I've been told this machine is designed to run at 8 volts by Clive Clynick through a few emails and it presently is set up at 12+ volts. My biggest question is will I fry this machine using it the way it is now?? Should I try a 6 AA pack at closer voltage to its design, roughly 9 volts. I'm an idiot in training when it comes to electrical/voltage issues but I don't want to burn it up. On a side note, I took it fir a test ride last Sunday at low tide to a small beach that I pounded this summer with my excal and was amazed at how many deep targets it found that I never heard with my excal. So any help you guys can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and as always Happy Hunting!
