  • Barracuda coil requirements?

    Hi,
I'm seeing allot a varying info on coil specs for the cuda.
I was wondering what values you all have had good success with?
It looks like the optimal coil should be 450uh with less than 2 ohms resistance, closer to 1.5 ohms.
But I'm seeing where it is O.K to go with 300 uh as on surf pi or mini pulse coils Specs.

The reason I ask is I made a flat coil at 468 uh and 3 ohms resistance. I can take several wraps off but to get to the right resistance with this wire I will be under 350 uh.
Is the 3 ohms of resistance too much for the barracuda ?

    Thanks All.

My bara works great on tiny target with 300-350 uH coil and the deep is remain great!

      Hi jladre,

I'm glad to hear that the 300 to 350 uh range work as I have a few coils in that range to play with.
The original coil specs measured from a barracuda coil as far as can find on this forum are 458 uh at 1.5 ohm.
I want to try a original build (see if I can get some of that two tone thing going on)so I will jump up to the next gauge wire to get the resistance I need.

      Thanks for your reply.

Hi godigit1! Ive already played the two tone mode and it only be achieve bt using tip127 and lf412 and most of all a mono coil.. But the two tone is you cannot guaranted the target because sometime there will no difference in sound to a large iron and the orientation of target are also give confusing sound. But one thing is for sure this machine is one of the best!
