  • Is my barracuda working correctly?

    Hi!

I have finished building the kit and all was working good (air test 27-30 cm).
I decided to take it for a test run at the beach, hearing lots of good things about the barra, I had some hope that it would function well on the wet sand better than my at pro.

But as soon as I turned it on there was alot of falsing.
Does anyone have experience using this machine in that type of environment?
What should the settings for optimum performance?

Falsing when you swing the Coil ? Did you shield your coil ?

Check your cable shield is connected to 0V, and not the other end of the coil. Also, as homefire says, make sure your coil has a Faraday shield.

255 shielding inside enclosure is clear for you or you need additional pics of high resolution?

I was not aware that the shield had tobe grounded (misinformed by video). I have now used a single piece of aluminium foil stuck to masking tape and wrapped the coil with it. I made sure there was no breaks using multimeter continuity test. Which coax cable should I use (multicore coax or single)?

Here is a picture of the coil wrapped with aluminium foil and polyimide tape.

You must have a break in the shield, otherwise it will act like a shorted turn and completely kill the sensitivity of the detector.

                Ok thanks for telling me.
I have cut a gap in the shield using a surgical scapel.

Could there be any problems if the sheild slightly overlaps without making contact and and insulated from the loop?

It will probably still work, but I've never tried it.
