        • Hi my firends

I just read your anwers and i will check my barracuda this weekend.
The problem stars a minute or five minutes after you turn on the detector. So i will test the unit with a power supply to enshure the batterie is not the problem and also i will look for capacitors.
7660 could be the problem to and the coil i think is fine, cause is the same that i build for my first barracuda and it worked good.

Thanks a lot to all your comments and support

          Regards

          Nelson

            bernte_one and satdaveuk
Sorry. The value I put into the pcb is not 4N7, is C3=6n8

Is C3 very critical, because had a bag of 50 and gone through half of them and not one is anywhere close

The Barracuda is a pulse induction detector and therefore cannot discriminate between different metals.

Does this mean that Goldscan, TDI ... are not PI detectors, or do not discriminate?

The Goldscan and the TDI are PI detectors that incorporate a method for ground balancing. By adjusting the ground balance control it is also possible to discriminate against targets with a given time constant. In other words, you are simply moving the ground notch to a longer delay setting. This is not the same as the discrimination you get with a VLF. If you adjust the GB control to eliminate a certain size of nail, then larger or smaller nails will still be detected. This is target conductivity discrimination, and not ferrous / non-ferrous.
