You can try with aluminium wire.

    • Hello All

I like to build The Barauda smd. I do not have Sprint layout, does somebody have a layout in a free pcb program?

      regards

A simpler solution would be to buy a Barracuda PCB from here ->

        • Hi Guzzi,

I agree with Qiaozhi, I have build Silverdogs Barracuda kit you can't beat the price! The kit comes with everything you need (except the coil) to make this high quality simple detector. My barracuda works like a charm and I use it all the time. Trust me,You will not be disappointed.

          • Thank you for the answer, I know the pcb from Silverdog is exelent but i like to build a smd version. The smd version in BARA.ZIP is in Sprint layout that i do not own.

            • You can use a free sprint layout viewer that also allows you printing http://www.abacom-online.de/uk/html/sprint-layout.html

Davor, Have you tried the Sprint Layout Program.
                I just ordered it today.

                • No. I use only a viewer for the time being. My PCB layout skills are still back in '99 when I last did it.

Thanks, it was exactly what i needed.

Next question: what is the latest schematic of the Baracuda?

                    • Ok, a bit confused here
I'm really interested in this great project, but which layout should I use to etch the pcb, the one provided by ApBerg at post #49, or the one at post #616 (hispalba's)? or another?
It seems that I didn't understand the differences!

Thanks', I will use the normal board then..

                          • Used 2 CD 40106 and both stoped working after a while. HEF 40106 stil works. Accidental? The datsheet gives no decisive answer.

                            regards

                            • Hi Davor
I substituted Q5 for a BF245C which pinouts are reversed and same symptoms, when reversed no output at all, but when still reversed increasing the threshold preset to max shorting SW1 theres motion detection and threshold sound is nice and stable, and working ok but lacking range .
When connections are as they should be reducing voltage to 0v on LF412 PIN 6, getting really good response to metals with preset threshold around 25% but non motion .
As I said previously , it works well but obviously not to how its designed to be.
Ive checked for -5v together with all the other supply's and everything seems to read OK.
I'm missing something thats looking at me in the face, but what is it?
                              Thanks in advance
                              Dave

                              • Hi satdaveuk.
The setting you have to turn on and delay. Find the minimum delay which works well motion and nonmotion. If the delay is too low, you'll get a steady voice in the nonmotion...
When you find a delay that is common to both (motion and nonmotion), then increase threshold.
                                Best regards.
