  • Hey Moodz,

    nice looking detector. Good job!

It's the end of Greedlab!!! *LOL*
Did you get sued too? Expect a nice love letter now. *LOL*
    Cheers,
    Aziz

... oh ... did I mention ground balotdeance and discrim

Fine tuning the code now the hardware is done.

Just a mangitude or order of magnitude?

that would be an order of magnitude ... however this does not equate to a doubling in depth but certainly is spectacular for a prototype.

          Thanks Aziz ...

I dont know who its the end of ... but it is the end of conventional PI circuit topology thinking ..this opens up new ground ( no pun intended LOL ).

          • Since an order of magnitude gives you ~10% depth improvement, doubling in depth would require a few more, so even 10% is good.

            • Looks good Moodz. All the best.

BTW how much did the upper and lower shaft assy cost, I'm looking for something better than the dodgy homemade one I'm using.

              Cheers

Thanks Mick ... check out the Miners Den ... http://www.minersdenmelbourne.com.au/ ...they have a catalogue somewhere ...

... some more tweaking might squeeze out two orders .... I have not explored the depths yet ( of the technology or the new ground LOL ) .... is that another pun ??

                    • Not from me. Some people might have some patently () unfounded expectations so it is better to learn the facts, thus the improvements will be more appreciated when presented realistically.

                      • Detection depth improvement is a question of coil size and coil current (N*I, N=turns count, I=coil current).

If Moodz can make large coils working, we surely can have a large depth detection improvement.

Yep, it's the end of Greedlab. I felt it in my urine today.

                        • Hmmm nice green grass, it must have been raining in Melbourne. I've heard it is kind of dry in Adelaide lately.

If you haven't place to store this beast, I can send you my address (you can even keep the battery and, of course, you have my word not to forward anything to our friend Woo).

                            • A real discriminating PI. Fabtabulous!!! I couldn't see a headphone jack in the picture. Is there one?

                              Nice work.

Thanks.... I am rather surprised myself that I finally got round to building it ..... the headphone jack is next to the red push button see pic ...

Below is the input signal to the audio modulator ...ie the output from the amps etc etc ..... two identical test targets are moved across the 18 inch monocoil at 40 cm ( note the time base ... about 1 second target time ) .... iron and copper ... for comparison.
This unit (the "PRO" experimental model ) uses an analogue signal chain processor so some user skill will probably be required to determine discrim tones ... the "Super Pro" experimental model has
the full ducks guts DSP unit and should ( when I finish it LOL ) provide more indicative discrim. FYI the non ferrous targets sound mellower ... the iron targets have more of a ping.
