Hi Moodz, Thanks for responding. Thank was just my smarta*s Aussie humour. I've got a few different types of wire coming at the moment are I'm going to setup a series of coils to see if I can get the decay time down. I'll post up my results as soon as i've finished.

I seem to have plenty of time at the moment, on holidays for the next 3 weeks.

Knocked up a quick twisted pair coil
        useing pvc covered wire .5mm
only had enough for 29 turns
        one winding gives about 410uH
should be close enough I guess
        will get some more wire.

Hi 6666, it will be interesting to see how fast your coil is, the best I could get with a standard tight bound coil was about 22us, then I went to a spider coil and have got about 10-12us.

hmmmm ...I can sample at 6us and the coil is just "scramble wound" twisted pair.
In fact to get good descrimination you need to sample very early.

At the moment i'm using your old frontend design with resistors and diode crowbar protection. I haven't been able to continue with the descrim frontend, because I ran out of blocking fets.

Fair enough ... I am ordering some alternative fets with 600 volt blocking.

I will see how they go.
