Have you got the 22pf ceramic caps installed on the crystal pin9 to gnd and pin10 to gnd.

If you are relying on the Pickit to supply the +5 it probably will not work

I am using a simple external supply, should have enough current
moodz how much current does your chip draw ?


I have tested the xtal its purring at 10mhz
I have started a vero board pcb , it should be running already
but will see what happens,

btw for testing the lcd it needs a 5k - 10k pot for the contrast control
turned almost to full earth for the display to work
or the characters are invisible

I think I have come to the conclusion that my pickit3 clone setup
is not programming my chips properly. I have 4 chips.



today i decided to try and re program a couple of them
first i tried to erase them, which seemed to work.

but when i tried the blank check or reprogram them or verify
i started getting errors, maybe the chips are duds.


trying to erase them, and program them now just gives errors.


I dont like to ask for help, but before i give up, Mr Moodz would you mind if I posted a couple of chips to you
to see if your system can erase the chips and reprogram them please ?

I know that this is not your intention to support folks that have problems like this
but if your pickit2 system works with my chips then it will prove a fault in my system,
then I may buy a real pickit2 and try again.

If you dont want to do this, thats ok, I may have another try at this project later.

I am happy for Mick to do it ... thanks Mick ...I am still fiddling with the amplifier ... there is plenty of signal ... but plenty of drift as well ... if I get rid of the drift ... the signal goes with it .
