J_Player, Probably Not the actual coil, but probably correct for the case i is housed in.

But what does this have to do with this particular thread on a PI Detector coil?

      Hi Chemelec,

The reason I posted that graphic is to illustrate how some confusion can come into play when details are missing about coils. This advertized coil size is different than the actual coil size. And if the actual coil has an id and od.

Perhaps it would have been better if I made a text comment instead posting a graphic. The questions running through my mind about your coil are:
      1. 9x36 is the coil's ID or OD?
      2. What is the difference between the id and od? (it looks like about a half inch)
      3. I presume the exact dimensions aren't critical, within 5% should work as long as the turns are the same?

Sorry, did not mean to cause any confusion.

        To Clarify it:

I Always State "Actual OUTSIDE Dimensions of the Actual Wire Coil".
Not the Frame that holds the Coil.

Manufacturers usually give the CASE Dimensions, Not the Actual Coil.
        Definately Somewhat Misleading, I Agree.

Since the Width of the winding is about .875 of an inch, The Inside Dimensions of that 9 X 36 Inch coil are about 7.25 X 34.25 inches.

        Take care......Gary

DD coil is better than the mono coil for ground area.

That is Impossible to say. It partly depends on How Good you make the Coils, What size of coils and what objects your searching for?

But there are also TWO DIFFERENT, Two Coil configurations for my detector.
                      1) Is Cancelling coils to help eliminate Hot Rocks.
                      2) Is Seperate Recieve and Transmit coils to possibly achieve a Greater Recieve Gain.
