  • Geotech Baracuda - REV-A: non-motion-mod-schematics

    Hello,

after reading many posts i think building Barracuda would be the best choice for a beginner like me.

Geotech Baracuda - REV-A seems to be the latest version, so i want to build this version.

However, i would like to have a MD that detects metal even if there is no movement.

I read about the pseudo-non-motion-mod for Barracuda and think this would be a solution, but i found only schematics for REV-D of a different Barracuda version.

Can anyone please post non-motion-mod-schematics (with switch) for Geotech Baracuda - REV-A ?

    thanks!

    Hallo Cabla,

the Switch was not for non- Motion mode
as i remind you can fine tune the Settings in this mode (engineer mod)

pay also Attention if you use geotech baracuda pcb, there was an error on trimmer 2 ? there was a missing ground Connection at the lower pin hole
i would order a set from silverdog if you do this the first time

the pcb is double sided with small vias, not easy to do the pcb at home

if you prefer White coloured pcb instead the one from silverdog i can send you one within Germany, do you have an German Forum account in an detector Forum?

It's not so much an error, but more like a not-fully-implemented feature.
I'll fix it in the next version. In the meantime, just add a wire jumper between pins 1 and 3,

Which one do you consider trimmer 2: R6 or R14?

I don't see ground connection in schematics on any of them?

i just bridged the connection 2 and 3 do it on the board or on the pot

There's appears to be some confusion going on here.
If you look at PL2 in the schematic, labelled "Sample Delay 10k pot", you will see that pin 3 is unconnected. This should be connected to pin 1. Then the external delay pot is connected to PL2 using only 2 wires. In this way it doesn't matter which way round you plug in the connector to PL2. This is also true for all the other connectors. The only difference is with the Threshold pot on PL3, where the orientation will affect the direction in which the threshold increases or decreases.

can you explain more about this please.

there was an unpopulated switch connection on the original barracuda(anchor) version, this was assumed to be a pinpoint or non motion mode.
but in reality it was used by the factory to setup the device, unfortunately exactly how it was used is now unknown.
from my own tests setting the delay did seem easier with the switch shorted.
but no one should be building that version of the barra it has problems build george's version or kt315's version instead.

The switch you're referring to appears to switch the detector between motion and non-motion mode. It puts a 100k resistor across the series capacitor in the SAT circuit to switch to non-motion.

my board is sure copy of the original so you can check this switch at nature.

so it was a non motion switch after all?,hahaha.
