i do not use libraries from P-CAD that goes to it. i do own library of all components measuring them by caliper.
ie there is not an inaccuracy in the sizes and diameters.

Im looking at the parts list now, and when i searched for the LF412A dual bifet op amp the result was 2 parts, a single channel, and a dual channel ,which one to get. both where the same number from mouser, are there any more parts listed this way as i go through the list, not knowing what to buy.

            certainly LF412 is obsolete. use LF353 TL062 TL072 TL082 instead.

my parts say LF412A when i first looked, that's why i was mislead. Nevr done this electronics stuff, so if i don't see the right number, then i don't know what to buy if i have nothing to compare it to. Thanks for the links and help.

Manufacturers sometimes improve and up grade their IC's, and they offer different packages, dip soic etc,
the suffix after the number 412 generally tells you the revision of the chip, the electrical specs, temperature range, if it meets military specs and the package that it comes in crap like that, you can get all the info from the date sheets. if you look at the data sheets you will see there are about 25 types of lf412, .
The suffix CP basicly means its revision C which is better than A, and P means its a plastic DIL package.
The shops tend to stock the latest chip model.

I believe the drop-in replacement for the LF412 is the LT1057 as usual it is more $
