i have a question and it might sound rudimentary.. Can the power source for the baracuda be any type as long as the volts are correct or is it batterie specific like Alkaline ??? Can i use Lithium?

Type can be any. With Lt1054 you can have up to 15v Maximum Input. With 7660 only 10 - 12v. -

that was era of ni-cad batts when bara was released. how much cells were in bara... nobody does know and does not say you.
ni-cad cell is 1.2V in charged state. if you take 8 you get this 9.6V.

Yep. I use 3 x 18650 in everything I can. Cheap and Do the job quite well. You can recharge them about a hundred ways. Almost ever Dead Lap Top battery only has one dead cell in them and those can be corrected most times by resetting the button. You can buy Lap top 6 cell batteries on E Bay dirt cheap. Buy the ones for outdated computers for like $12.00 USD free shipping.
