I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread on the different facets of the GPR project instead of craming everything into one post. Maybe someone else can start a new thread on the hardware of the project and then post schematics, etc. so that others can start building it. Also, now that I think of it, maybe it would be a good idea to break the whole project down to each major component, RF, schematic, software, etc. which would make it a whole lot better to manage. Thought? I can start the software interface, but will need some help. Maybe some can chime in what features GPR software requires so as to get a basic shell, than once that is done we can go into more depth into data manipulation, etc.

So, to get the ball rolling can anyone provide a sketch or break down on how the user interface should look, ie names of buttons, etc. as I am not that familiar with what GPR interface software should look like. If anyone can post some feedback on this it would be great. Once a shell is built and everyone is satisfied we can that start working on the "internals" as far as mathematics etc. to manipulate the data. Anyone?

Hi , I try to meet all with interest in GPR to develop a unit , but some who call me needs in ready-to-work schematics. So no one wants "move with brains".
The interface onto screen of laptop mast have two dimensions depth(vertical)and step(horizontal).By color mast indicated strength of incoming signal. And all slashes mast be stored in memory , to generate 3-D view of place.
So, my GPR project generate follow signals:Amplitude and frequency of signal, step from wheel , signal for turn or end of line.
I send all signals via RS port .
If you read my threads ,you will understant how GRP work and what mast be PC interface.

openGPR
I saw this and thought I would post it. I don't know if it has been discussed already... http://opengpr.neckargeo.net/dw/doku.php http://opengpr.sourceforge.net/old/ But isn't it really easy to plot the data in Octave or some other math program once you get it into your computer?

I'm talking open source code and complete software programs. The few links that follow are just many that can be found by doing a quick search.
Assorted software links from the Geography Department at Lancaster University:
http://geography.lancs.ac.uk/cemp/re...s/software.htm
Geophysics source code Archive:
http://software.seg.org/GEO.html
Source Code for GPR data software from the USGS:
http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2006/1365/
Then theres openGPR, a framework for the management, processing and 2D/3D-visualization of ground penetrating radar (GPR, georadar) data.
I've personally never used a GPR, so I don't know what the software would, or should, look like. I know there are programs like Snuffler and GeoSlice that could be used, but apart from that, I'm of no help what-so-ever.
Sorry.
