  • No audio without coil

    Hi all
Just finishing up a great project thanks carl. Problem is no audio without coil any ideas. Also I`m not entirly sure what auto balance is supposed to do, seems to have no effect in on or off position.
    cheers in advance

Auto balance is SAT, which affects target and ground responses so you won't see its effect while idling. If you get audio with a coil, then when you remove the coil the threshold may be too low.

      Thanks for the reply Carl
I understand auto Balance now. Threshold does not make any difference. it might sound strange wanting audio without coil but I figure there must be somthing wrong with the circuit.
      cheers

You may want to measure voltages in the analog path with and without the coil to see what might be happening.

Carl your a star I`ve omitted R51 probably thinking it was part of non-VCO option (or just a senior moment) I check it out tomorrow.
          cheers

Carl sorry for taking so long to come back with how it went. R51 made no difference , Any way after going over the board voltages things varied quiet a lot so I started looking for dry joints and shorts nout there then I checked all the pots and found auto balance had no connection to switch 2 through hole plating had no continuity. Once this was soldered along with all the other through hole pads I had audio without the coil (shes a different beauty). Just one more question because switch 2 was not shorted when calibration was made will it need to be calibrated again if so will removing R5, IC8 and IC9 be good to complete the operation.

No, re-calibration should not be needed. SW2 has no effect on the cal procedure.
