  • help HH RevD coil install

i built a coil like in the HH manual and was trying to figure out where the leads go on the circuit board. it has a 3pin junction block labled L1 and the middle pin is not labled other pin L2. can anybody tell me where the shielded part of the coil to the coax goes on the board and where the two coil to the coax leads mount.

the instructions say connect other end of the coax to the circuit L1, with the shield solderd to the ground side and the center conductor connected to Q3. so does that mean to twist the stranded wire together on the coax and land it to L1 and the shield to ground on the board and the center coax wire to Q3 irf740? the instructions are not very detailed can someone give me better directions!

Have a look at the attached schematic and layout, and it should all become clear.

If you're using a mono coil, then leave out R14 (which is the damping resistor for the RX coil in an IB configuration) and fit the jumper between TP2 and R12. This is easily done by adding a wire between the two outer connections of L1 and L2. Then connect the coil across the L1 pins with the screen connected to the middle pin.

i have the jumpers allready installed was just trying to figure out how the shielded mono coil attaches to the coax and what part of the coax attaches to the pcb location. i have two pigtails coming off the coil and i solderd a wire to the coil shield. just trying to find out how those three pigtails hook up to the coax and to and where on the pcb

Attach one of the wires to the coil shield wire, and then attach the other end to the middle pin of the 3-pin connector (i.e. GND). The remaining wire obviously goes to the L1/L2 pins.

If I am using two coils do I need R11 and R 14 or is the resistor only necessary for the rx coil? Another question is : Must the TX coil have a metal shielding?
