After installing this section and continuing to read on in the build doc, I noticed it says "Do not install Q8-Q9. Make sure all appropriate shorting wires are placed for this option." (somehow I did not see this the first 11 times I read this)

What and where do any shorting wires go, I looked over the doc and am not finding that info anywhere, help at this point would be appreciated.
For testing the clocking section Q8 and Q9 should be not installed. Later you have to install it.

I want the faster turn off of Q3 but am not quite understanding which parts to leave out or to add to get this correct.

I think I am understanding this as, Quote - "however, an active device pulling down the gate/base of Q3 will achieve faster turn off than a resistor" , so using Q2 as the active pulldown then I leave R7 off and jumper it or short it and then use R15/10k for Q2 base, still keeping R8 to divide down the voltage at the base of Q3 or is this incorrect.... good gracious, I am seriously confused now.....lol

I think I need a drink, oh wait, that probly wont fly with my chemo....never mind, maybe just a strong cup of coffee and a pain pill for the massive headache I'm about to get.....

I've had to give up work-hence the delving into electronics, and doing my Cert II Horticulture. Hopefully she will get the all-clear on the 5th. Then she can get the hernia fixed. Eventually I will get back to the shearing sheds (Woolclasser by trade). It's a great job to get to far-flung and remote places- with lots of old relics, and a few gold occurrences. And to socialise and co-habit with real salt-of-the-earth, tough, hard working, thick-skinned people. I don't drink any more, so weekends will be spent detecting, and evenings on the soldering iron.
Sorry to hear about your run-in with the tap-dancer Geocash - something I wouldn't wish on most. A mongrel of a thing. Keep your head up matey.
Thank you Tim.. Wow, your mom sounds tough as nails, hope she recovers fast and well.

It is a scary thing, just 6 weeks ago I was feeling good except for a pain in my right side, decided to go to the doctors and did a colonoscopy, they found a tumor a bit smaller than a baseball in my upper colon, so, went to surgery the next day for removal (22nd September) in which they cut out 4 ft of colon plus 16 lymph nodes and now on to a long cycle of chemo for 6 months once every other week.

Just wish I would have went to the doctor when I first started feeling the pain in my side over a year ago but you know us men, we always think "well it will go away sooner or later or it is fine I can deal with the pain"... well during that year, it grew thru the wall of the colon and spread to one lymph node, sooo, off to chemo I go... sucks knowing life will be cut short because of my stubbornness condsidering I'm only 51... the diagnosis ended up as T3N1A which is stage 3 colon cancer...

I'm trying to keep the mind in a positive way but some days it is hard.. the crazy part is at the end of august, I was pretty much normal weight, 230 at 6-1 tall, as of yesterday at the doctors, I gained a pound this week and I'm up to a whopping 186lbs. I haven't been 180 since I played football in high school back in 83....lol

oh well, I guess it is what it is, I am keeping the head up and movin forward, its the only thing I can do....

It's bloody marvelous what the doctors can do these days. Mum was stage 4, but no lymph nodes. My old mate up at Tibooburra had a spot on his cheek. When he woke up from surgery they'd taken the lymph nodes out down his neck , side, and arm. I just finished a course of Efudix cream for a spot on my nose-luckily it did the job, but I've also had the tops of my ears burnt off in the past. The sun's pretty savage here bloke. Also had 3 non-cancers removed from the bowel after advice for colonoscopy for hereditary risk, and have annuals now.
Most of us can look around an oncology ward, and consider ourselves lucky. 2 acquaintances recently diagnosed with liver cancer didn't last 6 weeks....

On a brighter note, I was just reading the ABC online news-a mini gold rush happening in the Golden Triangle of Victoria, after a 4.1kg nugget found about a month ago.
I have the GMT, MD20, Infinium, pans, drywasher, caravan. I suppose I should make the time to do the trip before the weather heats up too much here, but I want to construct the Minipulse, Chance and Hammerhead first!

          All the best mate.

Wow, that is crazy and yea, it seems the medical world is amazing with what they can do these days..

I would highly recommend the minipulse plus for sure especially with some of the mods that KRinAZ did. My second MPP build turned out awesome and has some great depth with the mods. Around home the air tests are good but I have lots of emi or interference because of flo lights, solar panels on the roof and 500kv powerlines right outside on the street. But when away in the mountains it adds another 1 to 1-1/2 inches to air test depending on test item.

I'm getting 5 inches, good signal on a 1.2 gram nugget and 3 inches on a .47 gram (8 grain) at home testing but away it improves to 6 inches and 4 inches respectively. I am super happy with it, using a 3dss 7.5 inch coil wound with 250/46 litz single cover @ 312uH and 2.2R.

I am not sure how the hot ground of Australia will effect it but its worth a shot and I think one of the members here has made an addon circuit for GB for the mpp, its in here in the mpp forum somewhere.

here is a quick vid I shot the other day and loaded to youtube because one of the members here asked and wanted to see how it worked.

Video isn't that great but you can see it is working well. My MPP#2 on left and my Mirage#1 on right.

              Hi Michael,

Wow, those images/drawings don't match mine at all.. and it looks like I shorted R14 and R7 misunderstanding the info I have. I think I have R8 & 9 installed as well based on the drawing I am using.
Well it looks like I have a mess goin on so will probably try to pull components at least back to step 2 or 3 and start again, not sure that will go to well, been a bit shaky the last couple days so will probably shelf it for awhile.

thanks for chiming in and helping with that, much appreciated..

                Hey Geoscash,
This may be a little belated but just found this thread.
I did the vco option 1 on my hammerhead. I have the jumpers in place and it worked great until I knocked it out of cal. I set it aside untel I get better with diagnostics ahh and everything.

                Ok found them.
http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...erHead-Problem Post # 14 shows the where the jumpers should be.
I had a hard time with that as well, the only way I was able to figure it out was to cross reference both options of the schematics.
                Hope you get feeling better.

Hey thanks godigit1, much appreciate the close up shots of your board, that will help immensely when I do get back to working on my hammerhead. Now I have something to compare and see what resistors I may have installed that shouldn't be on board.

                  Thanks a lot for that.

                      Hi all,

I am also building Hammerhead Rev D, and it would be really helpful in debugging if any of you with a working board could post pictures of the completed circuit.

                      Thanks so much!
