PCBs were ordered today. I went ahead and got a 1-week turn-time. These are the thru-hole boards, not the SMT. I need to clean up the SMT layout, and will order them in about a week.
I still do not like the audio. The VCO design does not give me as much delta-f as I want. And the non-VCO is not running off the right pulse edges, or pulse width.
I did think of a possible solution for the latter problem, using the VCO 555 as a monostable. But this would require another major PCB change, followed by another hand-etched proto board, and I'm a bit tired of drilling 300 holes. Plus, the request for more boards is piling up, and I felt that this just isn't a big enough deal to add yet another delay.
So the design ain't perfect, but it's intended to be a circuit for learning PI techniques, NOT to compete with commercial designs.
When boards arrive, I will send out an email to those who had sent me requests, and will also post a notice here.
Thanks for everyone's patience!
