  • HammerHead project

Carl thanks for the Great pcb. I put it together and after taking care of some of my
mistakes and misread components I have it working now. I am using a concentric coil
with the tx and rx seperate. I took an old Garrett coil and took it apart and wired
it up with my setup. When I turned it on and all controls in random positions I tried
a 22 gr nugget and it was able to detect it at least 4" away. Thats with scope on and
other electronics on around it an high tension power lines about 100 ft away.
so I figure once I get it optimized in the shop I will take it out and find out how
it will do. I am using a radio shack project box and a radio shack 12 v gel cell and
a bounty hunter rod and culf. When I get it completed I will take a pic and post my tests of
    it.

    Re: HammerHead project

    Hi Ray
I have a couple of questions,The unit you just built, is this the VCO HH? I am getting my parts together to build one. My second question, how important is an O-Scope for this project. I have available one at work, but I am planning on building a PC based unit in the near future for home. Is the O-Scope esential for this project.
    Thanks

Yes it is the Vco option for the HH. I for one think a scope is required otherwise how else can you find out what is going on in the circuit other than trial and error.
