Hammerhead for nugget hunting

Hi All,

Well, I got a chance to use my HH for nugget hunting. This time, my search was going over old dredge tailing piles. Now, the HH seemed to work fine for where I was hunting. Also, I did have mine set up to use the mini amp I mentioned in an earlier post.

As mentioned, the PI worked fine for searching old tailing piles, but seemed too sensitive for regular ground with the mini amp installed.

I do need to go back and try a few things more. Hopefully, I can do that in a week or so.

My HH is set up to use DD coils, which is what I had installed. Even with a DD, the mini amp caused the PI to be too ground sensitive once I was off the tailing piles and over regular ground. At least, it was at this particular location. I could reduce the pulse width and minimize this problem but this did reduce the sensitivity also.

I will post more once I do a few things and get back for a second test.

Hi Chris,

The Hammerhead PI is Carl's design which can be found on his projects page. Just select Home page at the top of this screen and then select the Hammerhead project.

I didn't dramatically change the design, but changed a few values of components to increase the gain and add a little stability.
