  • HELP WITH HAMMERHEAD PARTS

Sort of new to electronics, educating myself thru some books etc. I really want to build a Hammerhead, ever since I was a kid always wanted to build a electronic device....
Anyways, I have most of the part numbers, ready to order other parts on the parts list.
But, confused on what type of capacitors needed-small , large , snap cap etc. on the Jameco website.
If you have any part numbers it would be appreciated for:
    c1, c2, c3,
    c4,5,6,7,14,15
    c8,24,25,26
    c10
    and the following resistors:
    r9
    r10
    r35
    r11
    r39,r46a
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanx

Hi Sven, look you have to use 1/4w resistors and small polyester, tântal capacitors, better if you order a ready made PCB from Carl.

Hi, already have the PCB from Carl

picked up a number of electronics boooks from the library to help myself out.
One is the ARRL Handbook for Radio Communications, has a lot of useful info in it. Just opened this book this morning.

Use 1/2W (preferably metal film) for R11, 1/4W carbon film elsewhere. Polarized caps are electrolytic or tantalum, nonpolarized can be monolythic or any poly type.

ARRL Handbook is an excellent buy, I picked up a copy this past weekend at the local used bookstore.

          Thanx....

Ordered a whole bunch of parts from Jameco, few parts I can get at Radio Shack and Mouser for small 12mm pots for the outside.
I'm on my way. After doing a lot of reading about what parts do what and the different types...and a LARGE pix from Cesear (Cap) of his finished board...things are starting to make sense. I wanted to, wish I would have taken electronics in school when I was younger but, you were a nerd if you did.....Back then computers were the size of a house and used punch cards.

Do you recommend checking each part with a multi testor type tool, before putting them on the PCB?? I know they make one specially for this purpose.
I don't want to solder everything then at the end find something is not working.....
