  • YIKES! HH through-hole PCBs ARE GONE

    2 Oct 2006

I just got 4 orders for PCBs, and after filling these I have NO MORE through-hole PCBs left. I thought there was one more 25-pc pack in the drawer, but there was not. I do have SMT boards.

I had not planned on ordering any more, because I thought by now that HH2 would be ready to go. It is not. I will only consider ordering another batch if there is sufficient interest, that being a min of 25 pieces.

If I do another batch, I will make some mods to the design to accomodate a DD coil, along with a few other minor improvements.

If you want PCBs, please reply to this thread with a quantity. When the total reaches 25, I'll place the order. Price will remain $10 each, including shipping. Please DO NOT place an actual order UNTIL I announce availability.

    Thanks,
    Carl

I've already had a few emails on PCB availability...

OK, if you are interested in ordering through-hole PCBs, please reply to this thread with the number of boards you might want.

If you would be interested in a through-hole PCB only if there are updates to the design, please post what changes you would like to see.

I will only consider relatively minor changes. One is a 3-pin connector for a DD coil. Another is reusing the VCO audio 555 for better Option 2 (non-VCO) audio control. I'm open to other suggestions.

Please respond in this thread, not in an email. It makes it easier for me to keep track of responses.

    Thanks,
    Carl

P.S. -- HH2 is intended to be a PIC-controlled design. I have not had time to work on this for a while now, and I don't foresee working on this in the near future. I just have too much going on. When I get back on this, I will start a new thread to discuss the design and features.

      Through Hole Boards

      Carl,

I'll buy 4 of the current through-hole type boards (with or without the simple mods you suggest) if you scare up enough interest - and I hope you do - to order another 25.

Something is nudging me to get some before the microcontroller variety is all that's available.

I'm In For 2 New Boards

                    Carl,

I'm in for two new DD coil set-up boards.

While you are at making some minor mods, consider making IC6 capable of being a two stage NE5532 so folks can use either a single or dual stage amplifier like Eric Foster mentioned in some of his posts to improve the bandwidth. A gain of 20X in the first stage and then a gain of 50X in second stage will provide the same gain as the 1000X gain in the current NE5534 single stage design.

There is still some life left in the analog design for folks willing to tweak and customize it for their detecting environment.

                    Another run, great news!!!

I probably won't do this, as it would be extremely difficult to make it work for both the single & dual. However, it would be very easy to use a socket for IC6, then make a little daughterboard using perf board, that plugs into the IC6 socket. The daughterboard could have whatever you want on it.

                      - Carl

                          #22 and #23

                          Carl;
I'll order two regular (dip) boards.
That 3-pin connector pads for DD coil would be reallly nice.

Put me down for another pcb

                            Carl
When you get enough orders put me down for 2 more thru the hole pcb's
Also will this bd have your new modifications on it. I am looking to interface it with a Basic stamp but prefer to start with a new bd and keep the one I already have as a reference bd since it does work.
                            Thanks
