I just obtained a couple of AN/PSS-12 mine detector coils. The AN/PSS-12 is a PI detector, and the coil has separate TX and RX coils, not inductively balanced. They are (from memory, I did this last night):
TX: 245uH
RX: 455uH
I cut the connector off, stripped the wires, and attached the coil to the new HH Rev D board. I was lazy and stuck 680-ohm damping resistors on both coils, instead of optimizing them. Immediately got an easy 10" (25cm) on my gold ring on the lab bench, noise and all.
This looks like a good coil to use and, at only $10 each, a real bargain. The fellow I bought them from might have more, waitiing to hear back from him.
