Battery for HH

What type of battery is everyone using ,motor bike battery or ?

were do i get them?

I found my boards that got from Carl last year.
Going to start making this thing. nearly got all the parts.

my 2 cents worth

Hey learner,

For initial field tests I'm using a 12vdc-4Amp motorcycle battery (WAY too heavy for more than tests). Check for smaller 12v lead-acid batts at allelectronics.com or someplace similar.

The battery I'm testing my build with is actually for my large rockets and their launch systems ( I do have a life beyond MD's..lol).

My plan is to go with a split power supply using two LiPo's and a 'virtual ground' to eliminate the 7660 and it's attendant noise problems (LiPo's are not cheap, btw, just a hell of a lot less weight/amp). For LiPo's and their chargers I suggest towerhobbies.com.

Try to avoid high internal resistance batteries (check Carl's note in the HH build sheet where he mentions this in regard to the standard 9V 'transistor radio' batts.).

If you do decide to go with Lithium Polymers, DON'T EVEN THINK about cheating on the charger. You'll burn something down (or up) for certain.
LiPo's are VERY picky about charging and they burn with a vengeance once you get 'em going.
