  • HH revision choice !

    Hello,

Newbie, I will take the advice of the members of this forum and start building a HammerHead PI.
There are several revisions of this circuit.
What is the good choice ?
Revision D1 seems to be a little different. But I don't find any explanation, especially about the two coils L1 and L2 .

My building and learning stategy is :
    - Read the datasheets of the IC
    - Build the differents sections and play to change rate.
    - Re-learning the use of an oscilloscope.
    - Improve my english knowledgement. (I am a froggy french !)

For schematic and PCB drawing I will use Kicad http://iut-tice.ujf-grenoble.fr/kicad/

    Yours,

    Michel

    hh start

look on search>posts>micheal.he is starting a hh,and carl had make some explanations.

if you start a monocoil version, later is easy to switch to dual coil.

if you play first with monocoil, you can concentrate on functionality.

    later go for refinements.

you have pcb ready for transfer on first page of geotech.

    excuse my tarzan-like english

    best regards

      Yep! Go single Coil.

        Ok,
I will concentrate my efforts on the single-coil version.

        Thanks a lot

I cannot understand if the best choice is to start with a rev D1 or C2 (full, opt1 or opt2). I understand the differences between C2 layouts but not from rev C and D.

So as a beginner I can start analyzing a single PCB

          Thanks a lot!

Ok, I started with rev C because is single layer and document covers that version.
I think there is a typo: single layer rev C gif image was labeled as "2x".

              Hello,

I am new to the site,

I just wanted to ask if the HH rev D1 pcb is double sided or single sided. As i could see in the project files it has 2 mirror layouts.

I could see on the schematic that on rev D1 there is an additional led on the power supply, it has the option to use 2 coils, and are some differences on the audio stage witch I could not understand very well (Is it VCO or not?).

Are there any other major differences between rev C2 and rev D1.

              Thank you

Hammerhead Rev D is a double sided board

Differences between Rev C and D are fairly minor
This thread is worth a read http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12748
You can have either vco or non vco, I think from memory Carl had the Rev D schematic with Vco audio. The schematic represents one option, you can choose various options, read the rev C construction doc it is relevent to Rev D as well

I have a couple of pcb's of rev C and D left if you can't make your own

                good luck
