  • HHI rev D thru-hole boards available NOW !

I have just taken delivery of some rather nice rev D boards in BLUE

To make ordering a bit easier, rather than using a PM I have created an online shop with paypal checkout and the option for tracked Airmail in certain countries

Why not have a look ? silverdog dot co dot uk

Also in the shop are various spare components that I have gathered whilst building my projects, I hope they may assist someone who has difficulty sourcing parts locally

Any profit will be used to produce more boards and a wider selection of components, hopefully building over time into a nice little resource for the hobby detector builder

Hopefully it is all working ok !!

Remember I am in the UK so please allow plenty of time for delivery, particularly using the economy airmail service (typically 10-14 days)

Payment is now in pounds sterling as Paypal charge per transaction and again for me to convert into pounds !

I have added the surf pi kits to the shop

I'll price up a Hammerhead kit very soon

No plans for Deltapulse / XSniffer at the moment - but if you can find interest and pre-orders for say 6 boards - I'll commit the rest and get the boards made - and that goes for any other design anyone feels is worth making

Well done Silverdog! In my opinion it's a great resource for the forum.
I will surely be keeping an eye on...
          Thanks

Hi Silverdog, the board looks amazing!

We're new to this forum and only stumbled upon it while searching for info on the Pulse star 2. Looks like we won't need to spend all of that if this pans out.

My son and I are planning to search out iron meteorites after watching several episodes of the Meteorite men. We want to jump in feet first and have a few questions.

We're thinking of building 4 HammerHeads. One for a 2m x 2m coil, one for a 1m x 1m coil and another for a 11" pin pointing coil plus one spare to have on hand. From the little reading we've done, it sounds like each board should be tuned to it's size of coil so one board plus a spare won't do.

Can you or other HH experts offer any suggestions or threads to read? Are we missing something in our master plan? Would the Surf PI kit be useful or is the HH all we need? Are the HH kits almost ready or should we just order up the boards and source out our components?

            Thanks a bunch!

              Thank you, silverdog?

              Great site, great initiative.

But, why we need to register if order was paid by PayPal. PayPal can give you all needed information (name, address..)? I think registering by using PayPal is not necessary. I hate registering procedure on every site on web.

You would only need to build different variants if all the adjustments are left as presets on the PCB. By bringing out the necessary controls to the front panel, the user can make any adjustments required for the coil being used at the time.

I agree with you - I hate registering
unfortunately there is no quick checkout option as it uses your address details for shipping calcuations etc..

I believe you can buy an add-on that integrates with paypal but my daughter is off to university this year and really needs a laptop, so express checkout will have to wait I'm afraid

I think I probably have the components to make up some kits, just not the time at the moment - rebuilding the shower room ! maybe after this weekend

It maybe cheaper for you as you want 4 set to buy components locally ? that way you can chose what controls etc you want externally

                      Ironman,

You said you want to build four HH detectors, to use with four coils....???

You can "tune" each coil (damping), with a resistor mounted on the coil assembly, instead of on the PCB. Use connectors so you can swap coils as needed. I know one person on this forum (or more?) has a pinpointing probe, and another coil, which are switched between with a switch, so they don't need to keep changing coils for pinpointing. But all are still using connectors on the coils and chassis, so any two coils can be used (but clearly, only a small pinpointing probe is practical to switch between a main coil, with a switch).

Thanks for the help and suggestions. A very big Thank You! to Silverdog (and all other designers and contributors) for paving the way and making the boards available to the rest of us followers.

We've eased up a little and just finished completing an order for 3 boards instead of 4. We have also sourced out all the components through Jameco. I will look into using external trims and such as I learn more.

I foresee 3 of us searching at the same time and making use of 3 systems. Don't know how far apart we will need to be in order to prevent cross talk between coils but we'll figure that out later. I'm so excited , thanks again!

Well, we received the boards a couple of weeks ago. Fast delivery, thanks Silverdog. All the components are ordered and on the way now.

I've ordered a new meter that measures inductance so that we can get started on a coil. If anyone can point me to a HH compatible coil in the 1 to 2 meter size it would be appreciated. There's so much to search through!

I found some good guides for making the coil. I forgot that there was anything beyond the Geotech forums. So, for other newbies: if you click on the big Geotech icon at the top of the forum page you will be taken out to the main web page where you can select the "Metal detectors" tab and then select the "Projects" link. At the bottom of the page there is a great guide to "Making a fast pulse induction mono coil."

P.S. I'm glad nobody replied with "learn how to use the search feature."

There is a coil calculator on the forum somewhere , very useful in estimating the number of turns if you making coils
